WIND ENERGY TRANSPORT FIXTURE ANALYSIS

REQUIREMENTS

TIME Marine was commissioned to assess and analyze the maximum tier capacity for shipping wind
turbine blades on multiple vessels.

SOLUTION:

For each vessel route, a ship motion analysis was performed to obtain maximum vessel accelerations. A 3d model of the blade fixture was supplied by the client for analysis. The specific voyage route accelerations and environmental loads were applied to the analysis model. The following points list the concluding project effort:

Our analysis concluded that the lower tier columns of the root end fixtures have a high probability of buckling when stacked 4 tiers high. The maximum blade fixture tier limit for ocean going transportation was restricted to 3 high.
